The first weeks with a newborn pass very quickly. A small photoshoot at home is an easy way to capture these memories without a studio.
1. Pick the right time
Many parents shoot in the first two weeks, when babies sleep a lot and curl up easily. Plan the shoot after a feed, when the baby is calm and sleepy.
2. Keep the room warm and bright
Use soft daylight from a window and keep the room warm, since newborns are often photographed in light wraps.
3. Use soft wraps and simple props
Neutral or pastel wraps, a small cap and a soft blanket are enough for beautiful photos. See baby wrapping sheets, caps and booties and baby photoshoot props.
4. Add a welcome setup
A "Welcome Baby" backdrop with balloons is perfect for family photos. Browse baby welcome decor, baby boy decor and baby girl decor.
5. Safety first
- Always keep a hand near the baby and never leave them alone on a raised surface.
- Avoid complicated poses – simple sleeping shots look best.
- Keep small props away from the baby's face.
